Snowstorm blankets powder on Queenstown ski fields
The ‘pow pow’ is here – skiers and snowboarders at Queenstown’s Coronet Peak and The Remarkables are enjoying “the best bluebird powder day” of the season thanks to an overnight storm.
The snowstorm dumped 30cm of fresh, fluffy “perfect powder” at Coronet Peak, and added another 10cm of snow at The Remarkables.
The weather is forecast to close in again this afternoon with serious snow top-ups well into the weekend. Both ski areas are now skiing wall-to-wall, with outstanding off-piste conditions adding to perfectly groomed runs.
Coronet Peak ski area manager Ross Copland says skiing and riding conditions are “off-the-hook” on the mountain.
“Powder skiing at Coronet Peak today was an out of body experience. It’s absolutely sublime out there!” says Copland.
