
The North Face, the world’s leading outdoor brand, is proud to announce the opening of its new Christchurch store, located at the corner of High and Hereford Streets in Christchurch’s city centre. The new store will open on Saturday, 18 July 2026, with an official community opening event, welcome to all, to follow on Saturday, 25 July 2026.
Surrounded by some of New Zealand’s most renowned climbing, hiking and trail running destinations, Christchurch has long been an important market for The North Face and a gateway to outdoor exploration across the South Island. Building on its presence in the city since opening its original Christchurch store in 2018, the new High Street location reflects the brand’s continued commitment to better serving the region’s outdoor community.
The store has been designed to deliver an elevated retail experience and significantly expanded product assortment for local customers. The upgraded store will offer a comprehensive range of performance apparel, footwear and equipment, including a dedicated Summit Series area showcasing the brand’s pinnacle alpine and trail running collection.

Opening Event – Saturday 25 July
To celebrate the opening of the new Christchurch store, The North Face will host a community launch event on Saturday 25 July. Customers can meet with world class athletes Jossi Wells and Sam Smoothy, enjoy free cold drinks, live music, and giveaways.
Wanaka-based freeskier Jossi Wells is an X Games gold medallist and Winter Olympian known for his
unmistakable style, creative approach and influence across halfpipe, slopestyle and big air.
Sam Smoothy is one of New Zealand’s most accomplished freeride and ski mountaineering athletes, with multiple Freeride World Tour podiums He is currently undertaking an attempt to climb and ski all 24 of New Zealand’s 3000m peaks.
