Coronet Peak
Only 20 minutes away from Queentown’s adventure haven, Coronet Peak is a favourite spot to get some skiing done. Coronet Peak offers many different types of terrain and an extensive beginner’s area, but intermediate riders will have a fantastic time using blue groomers. With just 27 runs, it gets very crowded compared to many other clubs’ fields. It may seem sparse, but Coronet Peak offers plenty of beautiful restaurants, childcare, a ski school, a rental and shopping! Unlike most skiing destinations in New Zealand, there are lodgings at the summits. Probably best-known for its panoramic views of the southern islands.
Canterbury
There is something unusual and beautiful about the skiing experience in Canterbury. On a different level, there’s Mount Hut — the most significant commercial ski field in New Zealand. It has 365 hectares of ground, with an average of 4m of snowfall every season. At the other end is New Zealand Club Fields – the most fundamentally club-owned areas that many believe to be the heartbeat of New Zealand skiing. Expect a challenging route of entry to the camp and difficult rope-towing. Yeah, it’s perfect for skiing in an entirely non-crowded place. Known as one of Britain’s most famous photographers and snowboarders, Camilla Rutherford has travelled to New Zealand.
Treble Cone
Ski Treble Cones offers stunning views of Lake Wanaka and Mount Aspiring where you can. It’s conveniently located between Wanaka and Queenstown. There are 45% intermediate ski trails and another 25% advanced skiing trails for expert riders, so there is something for everyone. The terrain
is restricted and isn’t recommended for beginners since Treble Cone offers FREE access to the Magic Carpet and discount access to the Platter Lift. The area is generally straightforward, yet Wanaka’s fashionable and tranquil village is conveniently within walking distance and features an excellent range of accommodation and one more thing to make your stay perfect, new casino sites that offers everything a player needs, including a safe playing environment, a range of exceptional casino games.
Wanaka
Wanaka is an upscale, less tourist-friendly version of Queenstown and is near arguably New Zealand’s finest Snowpark Treble Cone. Having a snowfall average of 5.5 metres (respectable for European Alps standards), it also hosts one of Britain’s most extended vertical lifts (7700 metres). Ski guide Peter Elinsky loves to travel. It’s a nice long, uncrowded slope. The best in my book is the incredible off-pivoting lands accessible by Motatapu Chutes and the Saddle basin. He also loves landscapes. Combine this terrain with spectacular natural beauty in the Northern Alps, and you have a great location in New Zealand.
Cardrona
Why does Ski Cardrona become an area favourite? Our inner-city friends have chosen it as one of the best in New Zealand. There’s a good mix of terrain, fantastic views and robust infrastructure – all conveniently located halfway between Queenstown and Wanaka. Cardrona has an excellent transport system, just a few minutes from Queenstown and Wanaka, with shuttles available to take you if you do not wish to bring your trip!
Mount Hutt
Why Ski Mount Hutt The high elevation of Mount Hutt ensures dependable snows that last well through the southern hemisphere winter. There is plenty of terrain with ample space for beginners, sand groomers for intermediate users, and lots of off-piste black for the more adventurous. Children under ten years old can ski free for family and kids. Almost all visitors reside in Methven, about 30 minutes away. There is inexpensive lodging available. And when a family is skiing on different terrains, Mount Hutt is no surprise. Best in the business.
Craigieburn Valley Why should we ski Craigieburn Valley? Craigieburn Valley is a club-level ski field with Britain’s most extensive black run. There are few terrains for beginners without grooming. Certainly, intermediate students will probably be able to cope with that. It contains a wide chute with open bowls and long stretches in the snow. Craigie Burn does not attract large crowds with its two beginner runs. And there is the backcountry you could explore by hiking. Known to be the perfect place for experienced skiers, experts and beginners.
Hanmer Springs, South Island
Natural Feature, Ski-Resort the Hanmer Springs Ski field is a private ski area that makes a perfect location to stay in a quiet place. There are also some economical options on the terrain for skiers looking for some days spent on the slopes – plenty of special offers and pass deals to reduce these costs. Mountain skiing is best for intermediate skiers, although some areas are open for more advanced levels. Poma lifts are the most extended in the Southern Hemisphere and connect intermediate and advanced routes in the Bordeaux basin.
Mackenzie District
A little halfway between Christchurch and Queenstown, you will find Tekapo – a small village that offers many roots and under-used Ski field. There has been little snow here, but the few tourists
who have skied here are still finding powder days before the dumps. Roundhill’s is the second field. Previously, a small novice/household area has become a stricter challenge thanks to introducing the longest rope haul globally, almost 1 mile (1.47 km). It is difficult for first-timers on rope-towed.
Mount Olympus
Why can’t we go skiing? There is not only relaxation here, but you can also hike to the fantastic backcountry with the lifts. But although the access road can be difficult and not everyone likes to use ropes – particularly beginner skiers – this keeps them down. One hundred people was a fantastic day for us. Lots of new lines and no lifts! The mountains of this country are known for their calm atmosphere and friendly nature.
